My friends, God has chosen you to be his holy people. So think about Jesus, the one we call our apostle and high priest!

The LORD has made a promise that will never be broken: “You will be a priest for ever, just like Melchizedek.”

Oxen and donkeys know who owns and feeds them, but my people won't ever learn.”

Everyone will see this and know that I, the holy LORD God of Israel, created it all.

At your drinking parties you have the music of stringed instruments, tambourines, and flutes. But you never even think about all the LORD has done,

So before it gets dark, here is what I want you to do. Pack a few things as though you were going to be taken away as a prisoner. Then go outside where everyone can see you and walk around from place to place. Perhaps as they watch, they will realize what rebels they are.

They will think about what they've done and stop sinning, and so they won't be put to death.

But from now on, things will get better. Before you started laying the foundation for the temple,

Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent.

You Gentiles are like branches of a wild olive tree that were made to be part of a cultivated olive tree. You have taken the place of some branches that were cut away from it. And because of this, you enjoy the blessings that come from being part of that cultivated tree.

This is something they really wanted to do. But sharing their money with the Jews was also like paying back a debt, because the Jews had already shared their spiritual blessings with the Gentiles.

I tell you that Christ came as a servant of the Jews to show that God has kept the promises he made to their famous ancestors. Christ also came,

Whether Jews or Gentiles, we are those chosen ones,

To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.

By sharing in the same loaf of bread, we become one body, even though there are many of us.

I do all this for the good news, because I want to share in its blessings.

You never disappoint us. You suffered as much as we did, and we know that you will be comforted as we were.

The way in which you have proved yourselves by this service will bring honour and praise to God. You believed the message about Christ, and you obeyed it by sharing generously with God's people and with everyone else.

And the mystery is this: Because of Christ Jesus, the good news has given the Gentiles a share in the promises that God gave to the Jews. God has also let the Gentiles be part of the same body.

As a prisoner of the Lord, I beg you to live in a way that is worthy of the people God has chosen to be his own.

All of you are part of the same body. There is only one Spirit of God, just as you were given one hope when you were chosen to be God's people.

I run towards the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done.

I pray that you will be grateful to God for letting you have part in what he has promised his people in the kingdom of light.

But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.

God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.

We begged, encouraged, and urged each of you to live in a way that would honour God. He is the one who chose you to share in his own kingdom and glory.

In the name of the Lord I beg you to read this letter to all his followers.

God chose you, and we keep praying that God will make you worthy of being his people. We pray for God's power to help you do all the good things that you hope to do and that your faith makes you want to do.

God used our preaching as his way of inviting you to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened.

If any of you slaves have owners who are followers, you should show them respect. After all, they are also followers of Christ, and he loves them. So you should serve and help them the best you can. These are the things you must teach and tell the people to do.

God saved us and chose us to be his holy people. We did nothing to deserve this, but God planned it because he is so kind. Even before time began God planned for Christ Jesus to show kindness to us.

If you keep in mind what I have told you, the Lord will help you understand completely.

My friends, the blood of Jesus gives us courage to enter the most holy place

We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house.

We must hold tightly to the hope that we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us.

My friends, I have written only a short letter to encourage you, and I beg you to pay close attention to what I have said.

Jesus and the people he makes holy all belong to the same family. That is why he isn't ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

He had to be one of us, so that he could serve God as our merciful and faithful high priest and sacrifice himself for the forgiveness of our sins.

My friends, watch out! Don't let evil thoughts or doubts make any of you turn from the living God.

We were sure about Christ when we first became his people. So let's hold tightly to our faith until the end.

Jesus has gone there ahead of us, and he is our high priest for ever, just like Melchizedek.

Jesus is the high priest we need. He is holy and innocent and faultless, and not at all like us sinners. Jesus is honoured above all beings in heaven,

The Law appoints priests who have weaknesses. But God's promise, which came later than the Law, appoints his Son. And he is the perfect high priest for ever.

Christ came as the high priest of the good things that are now here. He also went into a much better tent that wasn't made by humans and that doesn't belong to this world.

Christ died to rescue those who had sinned and broken the old agreement. Now he brings his chosen ones a new agreement with its guarantee of God's eternal blessings!

But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done. The Scriptures say,

Long ago those women who worshipped God and put their hope in him made themselves beautiful by putting their husbands first.

Church leaders, I am writing to encourage you. I too am a leader, as well as a witness to Christ's suffering, and I will share in his glory when it is shown to us.

But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

We are telling you what we have seen and heard, so that you may share in this life with us. And we share in it with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

From Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James. To all who are chosen and loved by God the Father and are kept safe by Jesus Christ.

These kings will go to war against the Lamb. But he will defeat them, because he is Lord over all lords and King over all kings. His followers are chosen and special and faithful.

The heavens should be happy with God's people and apostles and prophets. God has punished her for them.”
