Nations were destroying each other, and cities were wiping out other cities, because God was causing trouble and unrest everywhere.

As soon as they began singing, the LORD confused the enemy camp,

so that the Ammonite and Moabite troops attacked and completely destroyed those from Edom. Then they turned against each other and fought until the entire camp was wiped out!

God brings wars to an end all over the world. He breaks the arrows, shatters the spears, and burns the shields.

God of Jacob, when you roar, enemy chariots and horses drop dead in their tracks.

I will make the Egyptians so stubborn that they will go after you. Then I will be praised because of what happens to the king and his chariots and cavalry.

Any nation or kingdom that refuses to serve you will be wiped out.

The LORD All-Powerful was angry and used the people as fuel for a fire that scorched the land. They turned against each other

I will leave Jerusalem in ruins when my chosen one comes to punish this city.

The kings will step down from their thrones, then take off their royal robes and fine clothes, and sit on the ground, trembling. They will be so shocked at the news of your defeat that they will shake in fear

I, the LORD, will make the mountains of Israel turn against you. Your troops will be so terrified that they will attack each other.

They will come to my table and stuff themselves with the flesh of horses and warriors of every kind. I, the LORD God, have spoken.

His deceitful lies will make him so successful, that he will think he is really great. Suddenly he will kill many people, and he will even attack God, the Supreme Ruler. But God will crush him!

Even if you are an expert with a bow and arrow, you will retreat. And you won't get away alive, not even if you run fast or ride a horse.

The LORD said: At that time I will wipe out your cavalry and chariots,

I will become furious and take revenge on the nations that refuse to obey me.

At present they are scattered, but later they will attack, as though they were fierce lions pouncing on sheep. Their enemies will be torn to shreds, with no one to save them;

they will be helpless, completely destroyed.

Nations will see this and be ashamed because of their helpless armies. They will be in shock, unable to speak or hear,

The LORD said: Just wait for the day when I accuse you nations. I have decided on a day, when I will bring together every nation and kingdom and punish them all in my fiery anger. I will become furious and destroy the earth.

My people will go through an ocean of troubles, but I will overcome the waves and dry up the deepest part of the Nile. Assyria's great pride will be put down, and the power of Egypt will disappear.

They will join in the fighting, and together they will trample their enemies like mud. They will fight, because I, the LORD, will be on their side. And they will crush the enemy cavalry.

I am determined to wipe out every nation that attacks Jerusalem.

The LORD will attack those nations like a warrior fighting in battle.

So the angel explained that it was the following message of the LORD to Zerubbabel: I am the LORD All-Powerful. So don't depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.

I, the LORD, will take away war chariots and horses from Israel and Jerusalem. Bows that were made for battle will be broken. I will bring peace to nations, and your king will rule from sea to sea. His kingdom will reach from the River Euphrates across the earth.

Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other. People will starve to death, and in some places there will be earthquakes.

At the sound of the seventh trumpet, loud voices were heard in heaven. They said, “Now the kingdom of this world belongs to our Lord and to his Chosen One! And he will rule for ever and ever!”

and blew their trumpets again. As they did, the LORD made the enemy soldiers pull out their swords and start fighting each other. The enemy army tried to escape from the camp. They ran to Acacia Tree Town, towards Zeredah, and as far as the edge of the land that belonged to the town of Abel-Meholah near Tabbath.

Saul's lookouts at Geba saw that the Philistine army was running in every direction, like melted wax.
