You are the same Holy God who came from Teman and Paran to help us. The brightness of your glory covered the heavens, and your praises were heard everywhere on earth.

The LORD is far above all the nations; he is more glorious than the heavens.

All creation, come and praise the name of the LORD. Praise his name alone. The glory of God is greater than heaven and earth.

I pray to you, and you answer from your sacred hill.

But each of you had better tremble and turn from your sins. Silently search your heart as you lie in bed.

You are famous and praised everywhere on earth, as you win victories with your powerful arm.

You are in for trouble if you go to Egypt for help, or if you depend on an army of chariots or a powerful cavalry. Instead you should depend on and trust the holy LORD God of Israel.

Your fearsome deeds have completely amazed us; even the mountains shake when you come down.

The LORD All-Powerful says about Edom: Wisdom and common sense have vanished from Teman. I will send disaster to punish you descendants of Esau, so anyone from Dedan had better turn round and run back home.

where I saw the brightness of the glory of Israel's God coming from the east. The sound I heard was as loud as ocean waves, and everything around was shining with the dazzling brightness of his glory.

Now I will send fire to wipe out the fortresses of Teman and Bozrah.

Warriors from the city of Teman will be terrified, and you descendants of Esau will be wiped out.

Just as water fills the sea, the land will be filled with people who know and honour the LORD.

So the Israelites broke camp and left the Sinai Desert. And some time later, the cloud stopped in the Paran Desert.

The LORD came from Mount Sinai. From Edom, he gave light to his people, and his glory was shining from Mount Paran. Thousands of his warriors were with him, and fire was at his right hand.

and said: Today the LORD our God has shown us how powerful and glorious he is. He spoke to us from the fire, and we learnt that people can live, even though God speaks to them.

Samuel died, and people from all over Israel gathered to mourn for him when he was buried at his home in Ramah. Meanwhile, David moved his camp to Paran Desert.
