and he said, “I'll destroy every living creature on earth! I'll wipe out people, animals, birds, and reptiles. I'm sorry I ever made them.”

He was very sorry that he had made them,

Not a bird, animal, reptile, or human was left alive anywhere on earth.

Seven days from now I will send rain that will last for forty days and nights, and I will destroy all other living creatures I have made.

The smell of the burning offering pleased God, and he said: Never again will I punish the earth for the sinful things its people do. All of them have evil thoughts from the time they are young, but I will never destroy everything that breathes, as I did this time.

Wicked people are enemies of the LORD and will vanish like smoke from a field on fire.

If you respect the LORD, you will live longer; if you keep doing wrong, your life will be cut short.

The LORD has a reason for everything he does, and he lets evil people live only to be punished.

When broken branches fall to the ground, women pick them up to feed the fire. But these people are so stupid that the God who created them will show them no mercy.

And so your land is a desert. Every living creature is dying— people and wild animals, birds and fish.

Then the LORD felt sorry and answered, “I won't let it be destroyed.”

Again the LORD felt sorry and answered, “I won't let it be destroyed.”

Not even your silver or gold can save you on that day when I, the LORD, am angry. My anger will flare up like a furious fire scorching the earth and everyone on it.”

I, the LORD, now promise to destroy everything on this earth—

people and animals, birds and fish. Everyone who is evil will crash to the ground, and I will wipe out the entire human race.

The LORD is happy to make you successful and to help your nation grow while you conquer the land. But if you disobey him, he will be just as happy to pull you up by your roots.

The LORD will be furious, and instead of forgiving you, he will separate you from the other tribes. Then he will destroy you, by piling on you all the curses in The Book of God's Law, and you will be forgotten for ever.

“Saul has stopped obeying me, and I'm sorry that I made him king.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out in prayer to the LORD all night.
