“Here's my money!” he told his brothers. “Right here in my sack.” They were trembling with fear as they stared at one another and asked themselves, “What has God done to us?”

Isaac started trembling and said, “Then who brought me some wild meat just before you came in? I ate it and gave him a blessing that cannot be taken back.”

When they returned to the land of Canaan, they told their father Jacob everything that had happened to them:

who said, “You have already taken my sons Joseph and Simeon from me. And now you want to take away Benjamin! Everything is against me.”

“It's all right,” the servant replied. “Don't worry. The God you and your father worship must have put the money there, because I received your payment in full.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.

The LORD has done everything that he had planned and threatened long ago. He destroyed you without mercy and let your enemies boast about their powerful forces.

No one can do anything without the Lord's approval.

In the land of your enemies, you will tremble at the rustle of a leaf, as though it were a sword. And you will become so weak that you will stumble and fall over each other, even when no one is chasing you.

Isn't the whole city frightened when the trumpet signals an attack? Isn't it the LORD who brings disaster on a city?

People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. Every power in the sky will be shaken.

You will be restless—always longing for home, but never able to return.
