Then seven other heads of grain came up. They were thin and scorched by a wind from the desert.

The king went back to sleep and had another dream. This time seven full heads of grain were growing on a single stalk.

The thin heads of grain swallowed the seven full heads. Again the king woke up, and it had only been a dream.

The grapevine is strong and healthy, but as soon as the scorching desert wind blows, it will quickly wither.

But in anger, I pulled her up by the roots and threw her to the ground, where the scorching desert wind dried out her fruit. Her strong branches wilted and burnt up.

All day long Israel chases wind from the desert; deceit and violence are found everywhere. Treaties are made with Assyria; olive oil is taken to Egypt.

No matter how much you prosper more than the other tribes, I, the LORD, will wipe you out, just as a scorching desert wind dries up streams of water. I will take away your precious treasures.

During the day the LORD sent a scorching wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head, making him feel faint. Jonah was ready to die, and he shouted, “I wish I were dead!”
