And so, I'll put you under a curse. Because you killed Abel and made his blood run out on the ground, you will never be able to farm the land again.

So the LORD God said to the snake: “Because of what you have done, you will be the only animal to suffer this curse— for as long as you live, you will crawl on your stomach and eat dust.

“You're making me leave my home and live far from you. I will have to wander about without a home, and anyone could kill me.”

The LORD will come out to punish everyone on earth for their sins. And when he does, those who did violent crimes will be known and punished.

Anyone who tries to please God by obeying the Law is under a curse. The Scriptures say, “Everyone who doesn't obey everything in the Law is under a curse.”

But the earth helped her and swallowed the water that had come from the dragon's mouth.
