Genesis 22:2

The LORD said, “Go and get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar.”

But God answered: No! You and Sarah will have a son. His name will be Isaac, and I will make an everlasting promise to him and his descendants.

But God said, “Abraham, don't worry about your slave woman and the boy. Just do what Sarah tells you. Isaac will inherit your family name,

Abraham named his son Isaac,

“Don't hurt the boy or harm him in any way!” the angel said. “Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son.”

You were willing to offer the LORD your only son, and so he makes you this solemn promise,

So Abraham got up early the next morning and chopped wood for the fire. He put a saddle on his donkey and left with Isaac and two servants for the place where God had told him to go.

when they reached the place that God had told him about, Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it. Next, he tied up his son and put him on the wood.

Noah built an altar where he could offer sacrifices to the LORD. Then he offered on the altar one of each kind of animal and bird that could be used for a sacrifice.

He then grabbed his eldest son who was to be the next king and sacrificed him as an offering on the city wall. The Israelite troops were so horrified that they left the city and went back home.

Solomon's workers began building the temple in Jerusalem on the second day of the second month, four years after Solomon had become king of Israel. It was built on Mount Moriah where the LORD had appeared to David at the threshing place that had belonged to Araunah from Jebus.

Will thousands of sheep or rivers of olive oil make God satisfied with me? Should I sacrifice to the LORD my firstborn child as payment for my terrible sins?

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.

God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won't he freely give us everything else?

Abraham had been promised that Isaac, his only son, would continue his family. But when Abraham was tested, he had faith and was willing to sacrifice Isaac,

and come home safely, I will sacrifice to you whoever comes out to meet me first.”

Then she went back to her father. He did what he had promised, and she never got married. That's why
