God looked at what he had done. All of it was very good! Evening came and then morning—that was the sixth day.

By the seventh day God had finished his work, and so he rested.

That's how God created the heavens and the earth. When the LORD God made the heavens and the earth,

You commanded them to respect your holy Sabbath, and you instructed your servant Moses to teach them your laws.

Work the first six days of the week, but rest and relax on the seventh day. This law is not only for you, but for your oxen, donkeys, and slaves, as well as for any foreigners among you.

Then they went to prepare some sweet-smelling spices for his burial. But on the Sabbath they rested, as the Law of Moses commands.
