Now I am going down to see for myself if those people really are that bad. If they aren't, I want to know about it.”

The men turned and started towards Sodom. But the LORD stayed with Abraham,

The LORD replied, “If I find fifty good people in Sodom, I will save the city to keep them from being killed.”

and the LORD sent burning sulphur down like rain on Sodom and Gomorrah.

But as soon as she got to the top of the mountain, she went over and grabbed Elisha by the feet. Gehazi started towards her to push her away, when Elisha said, “Leave her alone! Don't you see how sad she is? But the LORD hasn't told me why.”

Our God, you forced out the nations who lived in this land before your people Israel came here, and you gave it to the descendants of your friend Abraham for ever.

Our LORD, you are the friend of your worshippers, and you make an agreement with all of us.

Whatever the LORD God plans to do, he tells his servants, the prophets.

Servants don't know what their master is doing, and so I don't speak to you as my servants. I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything that my Father has told me.

This is what the Scriptures mean by saying, “Abraham had faith in God, and God was pleased with him.” That's how Abraham became God's friend.
