I will give you and them the land in which you are now a foreigner. I will give the whole land of Canaan to your family for ever, and I will be their God.

but the LORD appeared to Abram and promised, “I will give this land to your family for ever.” Abram then built an altar there for the LORD.

I will give you and your family all the land you can see. It will be theirs for ever!

“I live as a foreigner in your land, and I don't own any property where I can bury my wife. Please let me buy a piece of land.”

where the LORD appeared to him that night and told him, “Don't be afraid! I am the God who was worshipped by your father Abraham, my servant. I will be with you and bless you, and because of Abraham I will give you many descendants.”

May he bless you with the land he gave Abraham, so that you will take over this land where we now live as foreigners.

Jacob went to his father Isaac at Hebron, also called Mamre or Kiriath-Arba, where Isaac's father Abraham had lived as a foreigner.

He did this because the land was too crowded and could not support him and his brother with their flocks and herds.

Jacob lived in the land of Canaan, where his father Isaac had lived,

and promised, “I will give you a large family with many descendants that will grow into a nation. And I am giving you this land that will belong to you and your family for ever.”

I have ruled this way, and God will never break his promise to me. God's promise is complete and unchanging; he will always help me and give me what I hope for.

The LORD is always kind to those who worship him, and he keeps his promises to their descendants

when he said, “I'll give you the land of Canaan.”

God made an eternal promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

The LORD will give you the land of the Canaanites, just as he promised you and your ancestors.

Then he must stand beside either the door or the doorpost at the place of worship, while his owner punches a small hole through one of his ears with a sharp metal rod. This makes him a slave for life.

I will live among you as your God,

Remember the solemn promise you made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You promised that some day they would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky and that you would give them land.

and ordain them in the same way, so they and their descendants will always be my priests.

I made an agreement and promised them the land of Canaan, where they were living as foreigners.

I will accept you as my people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I was the one who rescued you from the Egyptians.

After I have given you the land of Canaan as your permanent possession, here is what you must do, if I ever put mildew on the walls of any of your homes.

You must celebrate this day each year—it is the Great Day of Forgiveness for all the sins of the people of Israel. Moses did exactly as the LORD had commanded.

I will walk with you—I will be your God, and you will be my people.

and I will bring them to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, faithful to bring about justice.

Hobab the Midianite, the father-in-law of Moses, was there. And Moses said to him, “We're leaving for the place the LORD has promised us. He has said that all will go well for us. So come along, and we will make sure that all goes well for you.”

The LORD said to Moses, “One day you will go up into the Abarim Mountains, and from there you will see the land I am giving the Israelites.

God didn't give him any part of it, not even a square metre. But God did promise to give it to him and his family for ever, even though Abraham didn't have any children.

Out of all the nations on this earth, the LORD your God chose you to be his own. You belong to the LORD, so don't behave like those who worship other gods.

Since you have agreed to obey the LORD, he has agreed that you will be his people and that you will belong to him, just as he promised.

In this agreement, the LORD promised that you would be his people and that he would be your God. He first made this promise to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and today the LORD is making this same promise to you. But it isn't just for you; it is also for your descendants.

Go up into the Abarim Mountain range here in Moab across the Jordan valley from Jericho. And when you reach the top of Mount Nebo, you will be able to see the land of Canaan, which I am giving to Israel.

that God Most High gave land to every nation. He assigned a guardian angel to each of them,

The LORD said, “Moses, this is the land I was talking about when I solemnly promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that I would give land to their descendants. I have let you see it, but you will not cross the Jordan and go in.”

The LORD loved your ancestors and decided that you would be his people. So the LORD used his great power to bring you out of Egypt.

Christ died to rescue those who had sinned and broken the old agreement. Now he brings his chosen ones a new agreement with its guarantee of God's eternal blessings!

My servant Moses is dead. Now you must lead Israel across the River Jordan into the land I'm giving to all of you.

All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
