That night, Abram divided up his troops, attacked from all sides, and won a great victory. But some of the enemy escaped to the town of Hobah north of Damascus,

Children are a blessing and a gift from the LORD.

Not getting what you want can make you feel sick, but a wish that comes true is a life-giving tree.

A hard-working slave will be placed in charge of a no-good child, and that slave will be given the same inheritance that each child receives.

This is a message about Damascus: Damascus is doomed! It will end up in ruins.

Then I will set up monuments in my temple with your names written on them. This will be much better than having children, because these monuments will stand there for ever.

The LORD says about Damascus: The towns of Hamath and Arpad have heard your bad news. They have lost hope, and worries roll over them like ocean waves.

God didn't give him any part of it, not even a square metre. But God did promise to give it to him and his family for ever, even though Abraham didn't have any children.

The man answered, “She is the one who came back from Moab with Naomi.

“LORD All-Powerful, I am your servant, but I am so miserable! Please let me have a son. I will give him to you for as long as he lives, and his hair will never be cut.”
