Some time after sunset, when it was very dark, a smoking cooking pot and a flaming fire went between the two halves of each animal.

Abram obeyed the LORD. Then he cut the animals in half and laid the two halves of each animal opposite each other on the ground. But he did not cut the doves and pigeons in half.

and breathed out smoke. Scorching heat and fiery flames spewed from your mouth.

The fire blazed up towards the sky, and the LORD's angel went up towards heaven in the fire. Manoah and his wife bowed down low when they saw what happened.

The angel was holding a walking stick, and he touched the meat and the bread with the end of the stick. Flames jumped from the rock and burnt up the meat and the bread. When Gideon looked, the angel was gone.
