Abram moved from place to place in the Southern Desert. And finally, he went north and set up his tents between Bethel and Ai,
Abram went as far as the sacred tree of Moreh in a place called Shechem. The Canaanites were still living in the land at that time,
Before Moses sent them into Canaan, he said: After you go through the Southern Desert of Canaan, continue north into the hill country
Because Abraham had faith, he lived as a stranger in the promised land. He lived there in a tent, and so did Isaac and Jacob, who were later given the same promise.
