Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don't feel sorry that you must give and don't feel that you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give.

Your glorious power will be seen on the day you begin to rule. You will wear the sacred robes and shine like the morning sun in all your strength.

Then on the fourth day we went to God's temple, where the silver, the gold, and the other things were weighed and given to the priest Meremoth son of Uriah. With him were Eleazar son of Phinehas and the two Levites, Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.

Everyone else must provide what is needed. They must give money, supplies, and animals, as well as gifts for rebuilding God's temple.

Our enemies were trying to frighten us and to keep us from our work. But I asked God to give me strength.

Here is a message for all who are weak, trembling, and worried: “Cheer up! Don't be afraid. Your God is coming to punish your enemies. God will take revenge on them and rescue you.”

The Israelites had already done what Moses had told them to do. They had gone to their Egyptian neighbours and asked for gold and silver and for clothes.

The LORD had made the Egyptians friendly towards the people of Israel, and they gave them whatever they asked for. In this way they carried away the wealth of the Egyptians when they left Egypt.

David and the people were very happy that so much had been given to the LORD, and they all celebrated.
