Slave owners, you must treat your slaves with this same respect. Don't threaten them. They have the same Master in heaven that you do, and he doesn't have any favourites.

We are Jews just as they are, and our children are as good as theirs. But we still have to sell our children as slaves, and some of our daughters have already been raped. We are completely helpless; our fields and vineyards have even been taken from us.”

And God created us all; he has no favourites, whether rich or poor.

Our LORD, I know that you defend the homeless and see that the poor are given justice.

Don't be surprised if the poor of your country are abused, and injustice takes the place of justice. After all, the lower officials must do what the higher ones order them to do.

I was angry with my people. So I let you take their land and bring disgrace on them. You showed them no mercy, but were especially cruel to those who were old.

Now I am going to give you one more chance. If you bow down and worship the statue when you hear the music, everything will be all right. But if you don't, you will at once be thrown into a flaming furnace. No god can save you from me.”

Anyone who refuses will at once be thrown into a flaming furnace.

Do not steal anything or cheat anyone, and don't fail to pay your workers at the end of each day.

The LORD All-Powerful said: I'm now on my way to judge you. And I will quickly condemn all who practise witchcraft or cheat in marriage or tell lies in court or rob workers of their pay or ill-treat widows and orphans or steal the property of foreigners or refuse to respect me.

They went out into the streets and brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike. And the banquet room was filled with guests.

Then he said to the servants, “It is time for the wedding banquet, and the invited guests don't deserve to come.

But suppose one of the servants thinks that the master won't return until late.

That servant will then be punished and thrown out with the ones who only pretended to serve their master. There they will cry and grit their teeth in pain.

Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about.

Treat others just as you want to be treated.

You call me your teacher and Lord, and you should, because that is who I am.

Peter then said: Now I am certain that God treats all people alike.

God doesn't have any favourites!

To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.

When the Lord chooses slaves, they become his free people. And when he chooses free people, they become slaves of Christ.

The LORD your God is more powerful than all other gods and lords, and his tremendous power is to be feared. His decisions are always fair, and you cannot bribe him to change his mind.

But Christ has no favourites! He will punish evil people, just as they deserve.

Slave owners, be fair and honest with your slaves. Don't forget that you have a Master in heaven.

Do this, because on the day of judgment there will be no pity for those who have not had pity on others. But even in judgment, God is merciful!

You will do well, if you obey the most important law in the Scriptures. It is the law that commands us to love others as much as we love ourselves.

You refused to pay the people who worked in your fields, and now their unpaid wages are shouting out against you. The Lord All-Powerful has heard the cries of the workers who harvested your crops.

Samuel continued, “You may not think you're very important, but the LORD chose you to be king, and you are in charge of the tribes of Israel.
