From heaven God shows how angry he is with all the wicked and evil things that sinful people do to crush the truth.

Jesus answered: Don't let anyone fool you.

Don't let anyone fool you by using senseless arguments. These arguments may sound wise, but they are only human teachings. They come from the powers of this world and not from Christ.

Dear friends, don't believe everyone who claims to have the Spirit of God. Test them all to find out if they really do come from God. Many false prophets have already gone out into the world,

God is angry with people who disobey him by doing these things.

Jesus answered: Watch out and don't let anyone fool you!

False messiahs and false prophets will come and perform great miracles and signs. They will even try to fool God's chosen ones.

They disobeyed the message and stumbled and fell over that stone, because they were doomed.

But don't be fooled! People will rebel against God. Then before the Lord returns, the wicked one who is doomed to be destroyed will appear.

I tell you these things to keep you from being fooled by fancy talk.

False messiahs and false prophets will come and perform miracles and signs. They will even try to fool God's chosen ones.

Don't be cheated by people who make a show of acting humble and who worship angels. They boast about seeing visions. But it is all nonsense, because their minds are filled with selfish desires.

God became angry and killed the strongest and best from the families of Israel.

We see that those people did not enter the place of rest because they did not have faith.

You lying prophets promise security for anyone who gives you food, but disaster for anyone who refuses to feed you. Here is what the LORD says to you prophets:

to the people of Judah who had been taken to Babylonia. In this letter, I wrote that the LORD had said: I, the LORD, have not chosen Shemaiah to be one of my prophets, and he has misled you by telling lies in my name.

Does he think he can plan and win a war with nothing but words? Who is going to help him, now that he has turned against the king of Assyria?

You might have people in your kingdom who claim they can tell the future by magic or by talking with the dead or by dreams or messages from a god. But don't pay attention if any of them tell you not to obey Nebuchadnezzar.

Don't fool yourselves into thinking that the Babylonians will leave as they did before.

Don't be fooled by any kind of strange teachings. It is better to receive strength from God's undeserved kindness than to depend on certain foods. After all, these foods don't really help the people who eat them.
