In the world of the dead, the wicked and the weary rest without a worry.

It is as beautiful as olive oil poured on Aaron's head and running down his beard and the collar of his robe.

A friendly smile makes you happy, and good news makes you feel strong.

A good reputation and respect are worth much more than silver and gold.

Others will find out, and your reputation will then be ruined.

The sweet smell of incense can make you feel good, but true friendship is better still.

A few dead flies in perfume make all of it stink, and a little foolishness outweighs a lot of wisdom.

I said to myself, “The dead are better off than the living.

Something completed is better than something just begun; patience is better than too much pride.

and you smell so sweet. All the young women adore you; the very mention of your name is like spreading perfume.

Your love is sweeter than wine; the smell of your perfume is more fragrant than spices.

Then I will set up monuments in my temple with your names written on them. This will be much better than having children, because these monuments will stand there for ever.

Now let me die! I'd be better off dead.

But don't be happy because evil spirits obey you. Be happy that your names are written in heaven!

Even before the evening meal started, the devil had made Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, decide to betray Jesus.

Our bodies are like tents that we live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God will give each of us a place to live. These homes will not be buildings that someone has made, but they are in heaven and will last for ever.

We should be cheerful, because we would rather leave these bodies and be at home with the Lord.

It was their faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God.

All of them pleased God because of their faith! But still they died without being given what had been promised.

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Put this in writing. From now on, the Lord will bless everyone who has faith in him when they die.” The Spirit answered, “Yes, they will rest from their hard work, and they will be rewarded for what they have done.”

Ruth lay down again, but she got up before daylight, because Boaz did not want anyone to know she had been there.
