In all your troubles, you may finally decide that you want to worship only the LORD. And if you turn back to him and obey him completely, he will again be your God.

But Jehu did not completely obey the commands of the LORD God of Israel. Instead, he kept doing the sinful things that Jeroboam had caused the Israelites to do.

After Josiah had finished reading, he stood by one of the columns. He asked the people to promise in the LORD's name to obey the LORD faithfully and to follow his commands. The people agreed to do everything written in the book.

They made a solemn promise to faithfully worship the LORD God their ancestors had worshipped,

I worship you with all my heart. Don't let me walk away from your commands.

I pray to you, LORD! Please answer me. I promise to obey your laws.

The LORD your God commands you to love him and to serve him with all your heart and soul. If you obey him,

Today the LORD your God has commanded you to obey these laws and teachings with all your heart and soul.

But you must decide once and for all to worship him with all your heart and soul and to obey everything in The Book of God's Law.

So love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength.

Moses taught you to love the LORD your God, to be faithful to him, and to worship and obey him with your whole heart and with all your strength. So be very careful to do everything Moses commanded.

One day, Samuel told all the people of Israel, “If you really want to turn back to the LORD, then prove it. Get rid of your foreign idols, including the ones of the goddess Astarte. Turn to the LORD with all your heart and worship only him. Then he will rescue you from the Philistines.”
