The LORD has rescued you and given you more blessings than any other nation. He protects you like a shield and is your majestic sword. Your enemies will bow in fear, and you will trample on their backs.

Later the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision, “Abram, don't be afraid! I will protect you and reward you greatly.”

You are the rock where I am safe. You are my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter. You rescue me and keep me from being hurt.

And there is no other nation on earth like Israel, the nation you rescued from slavery in Egypt to be your own. You became famous by using great and wonderful miracles to force other nations and their gods out of your land, so your people could live here.

When Hezekiah and his officials saw these offerings, they thanked the LORD and the people.

God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won't follow sinners or join in sneering at God.

Our LORD and our God, you give these blessings to all who worship you.

They obey and come crawling.

They have lost all courage, and from their fortresses, they come trembling.

Our God, you bless everyone whose sins you forgive and wipe away.

You bless them by saying, “You told me your sins, without trying to hide them, and now I forgive you.”

The LORD blesses each nation that worships only him. He blesses his chosen ones.

We depend on you, LORD, to help and protect us.

Mighty king, glorious ruler, strap on your sword

Say to God, “Everything you do is fearsome, and your mighty power makes your enemies come crawling.

Tell about God's power! He is honoured in Israel, and he rules the skies.

Whenever your enemies refuse to change their ways, you sharpen your sword and string your bow.

Everyone who hates me would come crawling, and that would be the end of them.

Our LORD and our God, you are like the sun and also like a shield. You treat us with kindness and with honour, never denying any good thing to those who live right.

I trust you to save me, LORD God, and I won't be afraid. My power and my strength come from you, and you have saved me.”

On that day, Leviathan, the sea monster, will squirm and try to escape, but the LORD will kill him with a cruel, sharp sword.

They will live in a fortress high on a rocky cliff, where they will have food and plenty of water.

But Israel, I, the LORD, will always keep you safe and free from shame.

Then you will truly enjoy knowing the LORD. He will let you rule from the highest mountains and bless you with the land of your ancestor Jacob. The LORD has spoken!

A destroying army marches along desert roads and attacks everywhere. They are my deadly sword; no one is safe from them.

Israel, you are done for. Don't expect help from me.

No matter where you go or who you ask, you will get the same answer. No one has ever heard of another god even trying to do such things as the LORD your God has done for you.

We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of everyone, but especially of those who have faith. That's why we work and struggle so hard.

He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp double-edged sword was coming from his mouth. His face was shining as bright as the sun at midday.

But the rest of their army was killed by the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse. Then birds stuffed themselves on the dead bodies.

The rest of Gideon's soldiers blew the trumpets they were holding in their right hands. Then they smashed the jars and held the burning torches in their left hands. Everyone shouted, “Fight with your swords for the LORD and for Gideon!”
