The people of Judah disobeyed the LORD and made him even angrier than their ancestors had.

“You have made me very angry by rejecting me and making idols out of gold. Jeroboam, you have done more evil things than any king before you.

Baasha and Elah sinned and caused the Israelites to sin, and they made the LORD angry by worshipping idols.

People of Judah, how can I forgive you? I gave you everything, but you abandoned me and worshipped idols. You men go to prostitutes and are unfaithful to your wives.

Children gather firewood, their fathers build fires, and their mothers mix dough to bake bread for the goddess they call the Queen of Heaven. They even offer wine sacrifices to other gods, just to insult me.

In a foreign land my people are crying. Listen! You'll hear them say, “Has the LORD deserted Zion? Is he no longer its king?” I hear the LORD reply, “Why did you make me angry by worshipping useless idols?”

It reached out what seemed to be a hand and grabbed my hair. Then in my vision the LORD's Spirit lifted me into the sky and carried me to Jerusalem. The Spirit took me to the north gate of the temple's inner courtyard, where there was an idol that disgusted the LORD and made him furious.

Some day it will be impossible to count the people of Israel, because there will be as many of them as there are grains of sand along the seashore. They are now called “Not My People”, but in the future they will be called “Children of the Living God”.

All who worship worthless idols turn from the God who offers them mercy.

After I started speaking, the Holy Spirit was given to them, just as the Spirit had been given to us at the beginning.

Why are you doing this? We are humans just like you. Please give up all this foolishness. Turn to the living God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.

Did the people of Israel understand or not? Moses answered this question when he told that the Lord had said, “I will make Israel jealous of people who are a nation of nobodies. I will make them angry with people who don't understand a thing.”

just as the Lord says in the book of Hosea, “Although they are not my people, I will make them my people. I will treat with love those nations that have never been loved.

We would make the Lord jealous if we did that. And we are not stronger than the Lord.

You made God jealous and angry by worshipping disgusting idols and foreign gods.

You offered sacrifices to demons, those useless gods that never helped you, new gods that your ancestors never worshipped.

Don't worship idols! They don't have any power, and they can't help you or save you when you're in trouble.
