Deep water was still everywhere, and the dove could not find a place to land. So it flew back to the boat. Noah held out his hand and helped it back in.

But those who are evil will go blind and lose their way. Their only escape is death!

Jerusalem, wake up! Stand up! You've drunk too much from the cup filled with the LORD's anger. You have swallowed every drop, and you can't walk straight.

But I, the LORD, have promised that none who are evil will live in peace.

My servants will laugh and sing, but you will be sad and cry out in pain.

The people of Judah are slaves, suffering in a foreign land, with no rest from sorrow. Their enemies captured them and were terribly cruel.

Put your curse on them and make them suffer.

We feel sick all over and can't even see straight;

I will punish you terribly, and you will be ruined. You will be struck with incurable diseases and with fever that leads to blindness and depression. Your enemies will eat the crops you plant,

In the land of your enemies, you will tremble at the rustle of a leaf, as though it were a sword. And you will become so weak that you will stumble and fall over each other, even when no one is chasing you.

I'll send a sword to kill them, wherever their enemies drag them off as captives. I'm determined to hurt them, not to help them.”

When I heard this message, I felt weak from fear, and my lips quivered. My bones seemed to melt, and I stumbled around. But I will patiently wait. Some day those vicious enemies will be struck by disaster.

But this is just the beginning of troubles.

People will be so frightened that they will faint because of what is happening to the world. Every power in the sky will be shaken.

Blindfold their eyes! Don't let them see. Bend their backs beneath a burden that will never be lifted.”

You will live in constant fear of death.
