I was still confessing my sins and those of all Israel to the LORD my God, and I was praying for the good of his holy mountain,

While Ezra was down on his knees in front of God's temple, praying with tears in his eyes, and confessing the sins of the people of Israel, a large number of men, women, and children gathered around him and cried bitterly.

I am your servant, so please have mercy on me and answer the prayer that I make day and night for these people of Israel who serve you. I, my family, and the rest of your people have sinned

and you are near to everyone whose prayers are sincere.

So I confessed my sins and told them all to you. I said, “I'll tell the LORD each one of my sins.” Then you forgave me and took away my guilt.

No one in this world always does right.

I will bring them to my holy mountain, where they will celebrate in my house of worship. Their sacrifices and offerings will always be welcome on my altar. Then my house will be known as a house of worship for all nations.

When you beg the LORD for help, he will answer, “Here I am!” Don't ill-treat others or falsely accuse them or say something cruel.

Then I cried out, “I'm doomed! Everything I say is sinful, and so are the words of everyone around me. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD All-Powerful.”

I will answer their prayers before they finish praying.

Daniel, don't be afraid! God has listened to your prayers since the first day you humbly asked for understanding, and he has sent me here.

Daniel wrote: For three weeks I was in sorrow.

After this, he will set up camp between the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Zion. Then he will be destroyed, and no one will be able to save him.

In the past, you treated us with such kindness, that we now beg you to stop being so terribly angry with Jerusalem. After all, it is your chosen city built on your holy mountain, even though it has suffered public disgrace because of our sins and those of our ancestors.

I will return to Jerusalem and live there on Mount Zion. Then Jerusalem will be known as my faithful city, and Zion will be known as my holy mountain.

After they had prayed, the meeting place shook. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and bravely spoke God's message.

All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory.

All of us do many wrong things. But if you can control your tongue, you are mature and able to control your whole body.

Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.

Then I saw New Jerusalem, that holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.
