I am Nehemiah son of Hacaliah, and in this book I tell what I have done. During the month of Chislev in the twentieth year that Artaxerxes ruled Persia, I was in his fortress city of Susa,

When the king ordered the search for beautiful women, many were taken to the king's palace in Susa, and Esther was one of them. Hegai was put in charge of all the women,

Esther replied, “That evil Haman is the one out to get us!” Haman was terrified, as he looked at the king and the queen.

Later that day, someone told the king how many people had been killed in Susa.

Then on the fourteenth day of Adar the Jews of the city got together and killed three hundred more people. But they still did not take anything that belonged to their enemies.

When that day comes, the Lord will again reach out his mighty arm and bring home his people who have survived in Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Ethiopia, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the land along the coast.

What a horrible vision was shown to me— a vision of betrayal and destruction. Tell Elam and Media to surround and attack the Babylonians. The LORD has sworn to end the suffering they caused.

I am Ezekiel—a priest and the son of Buzi. Five years after King Jehoiachin of Judah had been led away as a prisoner to Babylonia, I was living near the River Chebar among those who had been taken there with him. Then on the fifth day of the fourth month of the thirtieth year, the heavens suddenly opened. The LORD placed his hand upon me and showed me some visions.

The graves of soldiers from Elam are there. The very sight of those godless soldiers once terrified their enemies and made them panic. But now they are disgraced and ashamed as they lie in the world of the dead, beside others who were killed in battle.

Then, on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was standing on the banks of the great River Tigris,

Daniel wrote: I was terrified by these visions, and I didn't know what to think.

Daniel wrote: In the third year of King Belshazzar of Babylonia, I had a second vision

when I looked up and saw a ram standing there with two horns on its head—both of them were long, but the second one was longer than the first.

Then after commanding them to listen carefully, he said: “I, the LORD, speak to prophets in visions and dreams.

Long ago in many ways and at many times God's prophets spoke his message to our ancestors.

In my vision their riders wore fiery red, dark blue, and yellow armour on their chests. The heads of the horses looked like lions, with fire and smoke and sulphur coming out of their mouths.
