and he commanded his governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, and his other officials to come from everywhere in his kingdom to the dedication of the statue.
In order to make sure that his government was run properly, Darius put three other officials in charge of the governors. One of these officials was Daniel.
Daniel wrote: Some years later, Darius the Mede, who was the son of Xerxes, had become king of Babylonia. And during his first year as king, I found out from studying the writings of the prophets that the LORD had said to Jeremiah, “Jerusalem will lie in ruins for seventy years.”
