On the twenty-third day of Sivan, the third month, the king's secretaries wrote the law. They obeyed Mordecai and wrote to the Jews, the rulers, the governors, and the officials of all one hundred and twenty-seven provinces from India to Ethiopia. The letters were written in every language used in the kingdom, including the Jewish language.

There is good news for the city of Zion. Shout it as loud as you can from the highest mountain. Don't be afraid to shout to the towns of Judah, “Your God is here!”

Shout the message! Don't hold back. Say to my people Israel: You've sinned! You've turned against the LORD.

You commanded everyone to bow down and worship the gold statue when the music played.

So all of them came and stood in front of it.

As soon as the people heard the music, they bowed down and worshipped the gold statue that the king had set up.

and shouted: ‘Chop down the tree and cut off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Make the animals leave its shade and send the birds flying from its branches.

King Darius then sent this message to all people of every nation and race in the world: “Greetings to all of you!

Israel was brutally crushed. They got what they deserved for worshipping useless idols.

Jerusalem, this will happen because you followed the sinful example of kings Omri and Ahab. Now I will destroy you and your property. Then the people of every nation will make fun and insult you.

Then they sang a new song, “You are worthy to receive the scroll and open its seals, because you were killed. And with your own blood you bought for God people from every tribe, language, nation, and race.
