The LORD showed me a vision of himself standing beside a wall and holding a string with a weight tied to the end of it. The string and weight had been used to measure the straightness of the wall.

The LORD was standing beside the ladder and said: I am the LORD God who was worshipped by Abraham and Isaac. I will give to you and your family the land on which you are now sleeping.

Those who have made fun of this day of small beginnings will celebrate when they see Zerubbabel holding this important stone. Those seven lamps represent my eyes—the eyes of the LORD—and they see everything on this earth.

An angel gave me a measuring stick and said: Measure around God's temple. Be sure to include the altar and everyone worshipping there.

The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls.
