For forty days after Jesus had suffered and died, he proved in many ways that he had been raised from death. He appeared to his apostles and spoke to them about God's kingdom.

So Elijah sat up and ate and drank. The food and water made him strong enough to walk forty more days. At last, he reached Mount Sinai, the mountain of God,

I tell you that God's kingdom will be taken from you and given to people who will do what he demands.

Suddenly Jesus met them and greeted them. They went near him, held on to his feet, and worshipped him.

He said, “Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here.”

After Jesus had gone without eating for forty days and nights, he was very hungry.

After the Lord Jesus had said these things to the disciples, he was taken back up to heaven where he sat down at the right side of God.

A week later the disciples were together again. This time, Thomas was with them. Jesus came in while the doors were still locked and stood in the middle of the group. He greeted his disciples

Jesus later appeared to his disciples along the shore of Lake Tiberias.

This was the third time that Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from death.

Then for many days Jesus appeared to his followers who had gone with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. Now they are telling our people about him.

For three months Paul went to the Jewish meeting place and talked bravely with the people about God's kingdom. He tried to win them over,

They agreed on a time to meet with Paul, and many of them came to his house. From early morning until late in the afternoon, Paul talked to them about God's kingdom. He used the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets to try to win them over to Jesus.

He bravely preached about God's kingdom and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ, and no one tried to stop him.

But when they believed what Philip was saying about God's kingdom and about the name of Jesus Christ, they were all baptized.

God's kingdom isn't about eating and drinking. It is about pleasing God, about living in peace, and about true happiness. All this comes from the Holy Spirit.

I bowed down at the place of worship and prayed to the LORD, without eating or drinking for forty days and nights. You had committed a terrible sin by making that idol, and the LORD hated what you had done. He was angry enough to destroy all of you and Aaron as well. So I prayed for you and Aaron as I had done before, and this time the LORD answered my prayers.

It happened during those forty days and nights that I was on the mountain, without anything to eat or drink. He had told me to come up there so he could give me the agreement he made with us. And this agreement was actually the same Ten Commandments he had announced to you when he spoke from the fire on the mountain. The LORD had written them on two flat stones with his own hand. But after giving me the two stones,

God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,

We begged, encouraged, and urged each of you to live in a way that would honour God. He is the one who chose you to share in his own kingdom and glory.

The Word that gives life was from the beginning, and this is the one our message is about. Our ears have heard, our own eyes have seen, and our hands touched this Word.
