David sang a song to the LORD after the LORD had rescued him from his enemies, especially Saul. These are the words to David's song:

The LORD's people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through.

The rest of them went on from Perga to Antioch in Pisidia. Then on the Sabbath they went to the Jewish meeting place and sat down.

When the Jewish people saw the crowds, they were very jealous. They insulted Paul and spoke against everything he said.

In Lystra there was a man who had been born with crippled feet and had never been able to walk.

Some of the Jews plotted against me and caused me a lot of sorrow and trouble. But I served the Lord and was humble.

The argument became fierce, and the commander was afraid that Paul would be pulled apart. So he ordered the soldiers to go in and rescue Paul. Then they took him back into the fortress.

The Lord also said, “I will protect you from the Jews and from the Gentiles that I am sending you to.

But all this time God has helped me, and I have preached both to the rich and to the poor. I have told them only what the prophets and Moses said would happen.

I will show him how much he must suffer for worshipping in my name.”

Pray that God will protect me from the unbelievers in Judea, and that his people in Jerusalem will be pleased with what I am doing.

We share in the terrible sufferings of Christ, but also in the wonderful comfort he gives.

You never disappoint us. You suffered as much as we did, and we know that you will be comforted as we were.

Yes, I am glad to be weak or insulted or ill-treated or to have troubles and sufferings, if it is for Christ. Because when I am weak, I am strong.

I have fought well. I have finished the race, and I have been faithful.

This shows that the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their sufferings and to punish evil people while they wait for the day of judgment.
