I am glad that I can suffer for you. I am pleased also that in my own body I can continue the suffering of Christ for his body, the church.

But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

As a good soldier of Christ Jesus you must endure your share of suffering.

We suffer in the hope that you will be comforted and saved. And because we are comforted, you will also be comforted, as you patiently endure suffering like ours.

These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing.

“Once you were nobody. Now you are God's people. At one time no one had pity on you. Now God has treated you with kindness.”

God doesn't intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ.

God did this because he wanted you Gentiles to understand his wonderful and glorious mystery. And the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God's glory.

That's why you should not be discouraged when I suffer for you. After all, it will bring honour to you.

All this has been done for you, so that more and more people will know how kind God is and will praise and honour him.

When I am with people whose faith is weak, I live as they do to win them. I do everything I can to win everyone I possibly can.

He did this by showing how glorious he is when he has pity on the people he has chosen to share in his glory.

He will give eternal life to everyone who has patiently done what is good in the hope of receiving glory, honour, and life that lasts for ever.

Father, I want everyone you have given me to be with me, wherever I am. Then they will see the glory that you have given me, because you loved me before the world was created.

I am praying for them, but not for those who belong to this world. My followers belong to you, and I am praying for them.

Yet Jesus would not die just for the Jewish nation. He would die to bring together all God's scattered people.

At the sound of a loud trumpet, he will send his angels to bring his chosen ones together from all over the earth.

False messiahs and false prophets will come and perform great miracles and signs. They will even try to fool God's chosen ones.

If God doesn't make the time shorter, no one will be left alive. But because of God's chosen ones, he will make the time shorter.

By finding me, you find life, and the LORD will be pleased with you.

God used our preaching as his way of inviting you to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Won't God protect his chosen ones who pray to him day and night? Won't he be concerned for them?

God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him. Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach.

So I will gladly give all that I have and all that I am. Will you love me less for loving you too much?
