David sang a song to the LORD after the LORD had rescued him from his enemies, especially Saul. These are the words to David's song:

Then Nathan told David: You are that rich man! Now listen to what the LORD God of Israel says to you: “I chose you to be the king of Israel. I kept you safe from Saul

You protected me from violent enemies, and you made me much greater than all of them.

That same day, David instructed Asaph and his relatives for the first time to sing these praises to the LORD:

The LORD's people may suffer a lot, but he will always bring them safely through.

The LORD your God will keep you safe when your enemies try to kill you. But he will snatch away their lives quicker than you can throw a stone from a sling.

I saved your life today, and I pray that the LORD will protect me and keep me safe.”

but he thought to himself, “One of these days, Saul is going to kill me. The only way to escape from him is to go to Philistia. Then I'll be outside Israel, and Saul will give up trying to catch me.”
