Joab knew that David couldn't stop thinking about Absalom,

Someone told Joab, “The king is crying because Absalom is dead.”

The troops were sneaking into Mahanaim, just as if they had run away from a battle and were ashamed.

When a ruler is happy and pleased with you, it's like refreshing rain, and you will live.

An angry king roars like a lion, but when a king is pleased, it's like dew on the crops.
