Three days later, a soldier came from Saul's army. His clothes were torn, and earth was on his head. He went to David and knelt down in front of him.

Joab bowed very low and said, “Your Majesty, I thank you for giving your permission. It shows that you approve of me.”

David asked, “What's the matter?” She replied: My husband is dead, and I'm a widow.

Ahimaaz called out, “We won! We won!” Then he bowed low to David and said, “Your Majesty, praise the LORD your God! He has given you victory over your enemies.”

After the boy had gone, David got up from beside the mound and bowed very low three times. Then he and Jonathan kissed each other and cried, but David cried louder.

Abigail quickly got off her donkey and bowed down in front of David.
