Someone from your own family will cause you a lot of trouble, and I will take your wives and give them to another man before your very eyes. He will go to bed with them while everyone looks on.

and yet you have promised to do even more. Is this the way you usually treat people?

Solomon said: What? Let my elder brother marry Abishag? You may as well ask me to let him rule the kingdom! And why don't you ask such favours for Abiathar and Joab?

Our LORD and our God, you are like the sun and also like a shield. You treat us with kindness and with honour, never denying any good thing to those who live right.

But you, the Lord God, are kind and merciful. You don't easily get angry, and your love can always be trusted.

God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won't he freely give us everything else?

Why didn't you listen to the LORD? Why did you keep the animals and make him angry?”
