Then they brought some food to David and told him he would feel better if he had something to eat. It was still daytime, and David said, “I swear to God that I'll not take a bite of bread or anything else until sunset!”

I am wasting away like grass, and my appetite is gone.

All night long the king could not sleep. He did not eat anything, and he would not let anyone come in to entertain him.

“No, I won't eat!” But his officers and the woman kept on urging Saul, until he finally agreed. He got up off the floor and sat on the bed.
