But the LORD refused to destroy Judah, because he had promised his servant David that someone from his family would always rule in Judah.

But Abishai came to the rescue and killed the Philistine. David's soldiers told him, “We can't let you risk your life in battle any more! You give light to our nation, and we want that flame to keep burning.”

but because the LORD had made a solemn promise to King David that someone from his family would always rule in Judah, he refused to wipe out David's descendants.

David is your chosen one, so don't reject him.

I will give mighty power to the kingdom of David. Each one of my chosen kings will shine like a lamp

I will protect it for the sake of my own honour and because of the promise I made to my servant David.

But the LORD will still give you proof. A virgin is pregnant; she will have a son and will name him Immanuel.

Israel, I won't lose my temper and destroy you again. I am the Holy God— not merely a human being, and I won't stay angry.
