At once the people went to the Syrian camp and carried off what was left. They took so much that a large sack of flour and two large sacks of barley sold for almost nothing, just as the LORD had promised.

Elisha answered, “I have a message for you. The LORD promises that tomorrow here in Samaria, you will be able to buy a large sack of flour or two large sacks of barley for almost nothing.”

The men rode as far as the River Jordan. All along the way they saw clothes and equipment that the Syrians had thrown away as they escaped. Then they went back to the king and told him what they had seen.

So Jehoshaphat and his troops went into the camp to carry away everything of value. They found a large herd of livestock, a lot of equipment, clothes, and other valuable things. It took them three days to carry it all away, and there was still some left over.

“Kings and their armies retreated and ran, and everything they left is now being divided.

And for those who stayed back to guard the sheep, there are metal doves with silver-coated wings and shiny gold feathers.”

You defeated my people. Now you're in for trouble! You've never been destroyed, but you will be destroyed; you've never been betrayed, but you will be betrayed. When you have finished destroying and betraying, you will be destroyed and betrayed in return.

But your nation is a ship with its rigging loose, its mast shaky, and its sail not spread. Some day even you who are lame will take everything you want from your enemies.

We attack our enemies like swarms of locusts; we take everything that belongs to them.

I will make the message of my prophets come true. They are saying, “Jerusalem will be filled with people, and the LORD will rebuild the towns of Judah.”

God is no mere human! He doesn't tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises.

The sky and the earth won't last for ever, but my words will.

When the Israelite army returned from chasing the Philistines, they took what they wanted from the enemy camp.
