But as soon as she got to the top of the mountain, she went over and grabbed Elisha by the feet. Gehazi started towards her to push her away, when Elisha said, “Leave her alone! Don't you see how sad she is? But the LORD hasn't told me why.”

She left at once for Mount Carmel to talk with Elisha. When Elisha saw her coming, he said, “Gehazi, look! It's the woman from Shunem.

Run and meet her. And ask her if everything is all right with her and her family.” “Everything is fine,” she answered Gehazi.

“None of us, Your Majesty,” one of them answered. “It's an Israelite named Elisha. He's a prophet, so he can tell his king everything—even what you say in your own room.”

I am sick of life! And from my deep despair, I complain to you, my God.

No one else can really know how sad or happy you are.

Being cheerful helps when we are sick, but nothing helps when we give up.

Whatever the LORD God plans to do, he tells his servants, the prophets.

Jesus did not say a word. But the woman kept following along and shouting, so his disciples came up and asked him to send her away.

The crowd told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder, “Lord and Son of David, have pity on us!”

Suddenly Jesus met them and greeted them. They went near him, held on to his feet, and worshipped him.

Some people brought their children to Jesus so that he could bless them by placing his hands on them. But his disciples told the people to stop bothering him.

But Jesus said: Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing for me.

Then she came and stood behind Jesus. She cried and started washing his feet with her tears and drying them with her hair. The woman kissed his feet and poured the perfume on them.

Servants don't know what their master is doing, and so I don't speak to you as my servants. I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything that my Father has told me.

The disciples returned about this time and were surprised to find Jesus talking with a woman. But none of them asked him what he wanted or why he was talking with her.

Hannah was brokenhearted and was crying as she prayed,
