It was Zedekiah who finally rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. The people of Judah and Jerusalem had made the LORD so angry that he finally turned his back on them. That's why these horrible things were happening.

But Cain had to go far from the LORD and live in the Land of Wandering, which is east of Eden.

The people of Judah have rejected me. They have offered sacrifices to foreign gods and have worshipped their own idols. I cannot stand it any longer. I am furious.

But the LORD was still furious with the people of Judah because Manasseh had done so many things to make him angry.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia had forced Zedekiah to promise in God's name that he would be loyal. Zedekiah was stubborn and refused to turn back to the LORD God of Israel, so he rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar.

Don't chase me away from you or take your Holy Spirit away from me.

But Zedekiah, his officials, and everyone else in Judah ignored everything the LORD had told me.

Ezekiel, ask the rebellious people of Israel if they know what this story means. Tell them that the king of Babylonia came to Jerusalem, then he captured the king of Judah and his officials, and took them back to Babylon as prisoners.

What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish?

The LORD will be angry if you worship other gods, and he can be like a fire destroying everything in its path.
