Many years ago, a man named Job lived in the land of Uz. He was a truly good person, who respected God and refused to do evil.

Then the LORD asked, “What do you think of my servant Job? No one on earth is like him—he is a truly good person, who respects me and refuses to do evil.”

My friends have rejected me, but God is the one I beg

You respect God and live right, so don't lose hope!

Remember your servant, Lord! People make jokes about me, and I suffer many insults.

I cry like a swallow; I mourn like a dove. My eyes are red from looking to you, LORD. I am terribly abused. Please come and help me.

But his people remembered what had happened during the time of Moses. Didn't the LORD bring them and their leaders safely through the sea? Didn't he give them his Holy Spirit?

Make promises only in my name, and do what you promise! Then all nations will praise me, and I will bless them.

The LORD keeps saying, “Israel, turn back to me and you will live!

Both of them were good people and pleased the Lord God by obeying all that he had commanded.

When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said, “Here is a true descendant of our ancestor Israel. And he isn't deceitful.”

We can be proud of our clear conscience. We have always lived honestly and sincerely, especially when we were with you. And we were guided by God's wonderful kindness instead of by the wisdom of this world.

God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshipped God, and God listened to his prayers.
