Elisha saw this and shouted, “Israel's cavalry and chariots have taken my master away!” After Elijah had gone, Elisha tore his clothes in sorrow.

Jacob mourned for Joseph a long time, and to show his sorrow he tore his clothes and wore sackcloth.

Some time before the death of King Jehoash, Elisha the prophet was very sick and about to die. Jehoash went in and stood beside him, crying. He said, “Master, what will Israel's chariots and cavalry be able to do without you?”

Elijah's coat had fallen off, so Elisha picked it up and walked back to the River Jordan.

His servants went over to him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something difficult, you would have done it. So why don't you do what he said? Go and wash and be cured.”

The king of Israel saw them and asked Elisha, “Should I kill them, sir?”

Even those who are guilty will be forgiven, because you obey God.

When God blesses his people, their city prospers, but deceitful liars can destroy a city.

Has anyone gone up to heaven and come back down? Has anyone grabbed hold of the wind? Has anyone wrapped up the sea or marked out boundaries for the earth? If you know of any who have done such things, then tell me their names and their children's names.

Wisdom will make you stronger than the ten most powerful leaders in your city.

I went to Hezekiah and told him that the LORD God of Israel had said: Hezekiah, you prayed to me about King Sennacherib of Assyria. Now this is what I say to that king: The people of Jerusalem hate and make fun of you; they laugh behind your back.

Please pray for those of us who are left alive. The king of Assyria sent his army commander to insult the living God. Perhaps the LORD heard what he said and will do something, if you will pray.

After the Lord Jesus had said these things to the disciples, he was taken back up to heaven where he sat down at the right side of God.

After the angels had left and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see what the Lord has told us about.”

As he was doing this, he left and was taken up to heaven.

No one has gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from there.

After Jesus had said this and while they were watching, he was taken up into a cloud. They could not see him,

to tell me, “Paul, don't be afraid! You will stand trial before the Emperor. And because of you, God will save the lives of everyone on the ship.”

While we are here on earth, we sigh because we want to live in that heavenly home.

These tents we now live in are like a heavy burden, and we groan. But we don't do this just because we want to leave these bodies that will die. It is because we want to change them for bodies that will never die.

As the Scriptures say, “When he went up to the highest place, he led away many prisoners and gave gifts to people.”

The witnesses then heard a loud voice from heaven, saying, “Come up here.” And while their enemies were watching, they were taken up to heaven in a cloud.

Micah said, “Why don't you stay here with me? You can be my priest and tell me what God wants me to do. Every year I'll give you ten pieces of silver and one complete set of clothes, and I'll provide all your food.” The young man went for a walk,
