Jehoiada the priest asked King Joash and the people to promise that they would be faithful to each other and to the LORD.
They made a solemn promise to faithfully worship the LORD God their ancestors had worshipped,
The crowd solemnly agreed to keep their promise to the LORD, then they celebrated by shouting and blowing trumpets and horns.
Everyone was happy because they had made this solemn promise, and in return, the LORD blessed them with peace from all their enemies.

if we follow your advice and the advice of others who truly respect the laws of God. We must promise God that we will divorce our foreign wives and send them away, together with their children.
And so, a firm agreement was made that had the official approval of the leaders, the Levites, and priests.
They will worship me and become my people. They will write my name on the back of their hands.
