Sometimes, when people were offering sacrifices, the servant would come over, even before the fat had been cut off and sacrificed to the LORD. Then the servant would tell them, “The priest doesn't want his meat boiled! Give him some raw meat that he can roast!”

Don't eat the meat raw or boiled. The entire animal, including its head, legs, and insides, must be roasted.

One of the priests will put these pieces on the altar and send them up in smoke as a food offering with a smell that pleases me. All fat belongs to me.

They want to serve themselves and not Christ the Lord. Their flattery and fancy talk fool people who don't know any better.

that they are headed for hell! They worship their stomachs and boast about the disgusting things they do. All they can think about are the things of this world.

These people are filthy minded, and by their shameful and selfish actions they spoil the meals you eat together. They are like clouds blown along by the wind, but never bringing any rain. They are like leafless trees, uprooted and dead, and unable to produce fruit.

The servant would stick the fork into the cooking pot, and whatever meat came out on the fork was taken back to the priests. That is how these two priests treated every Israelite who came to offer sacrifices in Shiloh.

Usually the people answered, “Take what you want. But first, let us sacrifice the fat to the LORD.” “No,” the servant would reply. “If you don't give it to me now, I'll take it by force.”
