Suddenly a cloud filled the temple as the priests were leaving the most holy place.

Then Solomon prayed: “Our LORD, you said that you would live in a dark cloud.

The LORD's glory was in that cloud, and the light from it was so bright that the priests could not stay inside to do their work.

Do wonderful things for us, your servants, and show your mighty power to our children.

Suddenly the sacred tent was covered by a thick cloud and filled with the glory of the LORD.

And so, Moses could not enter the tent.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I had a vision of the LORD. He was on his throne high above, and his robe filled the temple.

Then the man took me through the north gate to the front of the temple. I saw that the brightness of the LORD's glory had filled the temple, and I immediately bowed with my face to the ground.

He and Moses went into the sacred tent, and when they came out, they gave the people their blessing. Then the LORD appeared to the people in all his glory.

Moses said: The LORD has ordered you to do this, so that he may appear to you in all his glory.

I will shake the nations, and their treasures will be brought here. Then the brightness of my glory will fill this temple.

The Word became a human being and lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us.

But Stephen was filled with the Holy Spirit. He looked towards heaven, where he saw our glorious God and Jesus standing at his right side.

They are the descendants of Israel, and they are also God's chosen people. God showed them his glory. He made agreements with them and gave them his Law. The temple is theirs and so are the promises that God made to them.

So our faces are not covered. They show the bright glory of the Lord, as the Lord's Spirit makes us more and more like our glorious Lord.

The Scriptures say, “God commanded light to shine in the dark.” Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ.

The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone.

And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
