King Hiram of Tyre had always been friends with Solomon's father David. When Hiram learnt that Solomon was king, he sent some of his officials to meet with Solomon.

King Hiram of Tyre sent some officials to David. They brought along carpenters and stone workers, and enough cedar logs to build David a palace.

Solomon sent the following message to King Hiram of Tyre: Years ago, when my father David was building his palace, you supplied him with cedar logs. Now will you send me supplies?

King Hiram of Tyre sent some officials to David. Carpenters and stone workers came with them, and they brought cedar logs so they could build David a palace.

Hiram gave Solomon all the cedar and pine logs he needed.

Year after year people came and brought gifts of silver and gold, as well as clothes, weapons, spices, horses, or mules.

He ruled all the nations from the River Euphrates in the north to the land of Philistia in the south, as far as the border of Egypt.

Philistines brought him silver and other gifts to keep peace. Some of the Arab people brought him seventy-seven hundred rams and the same number of goats.

And powerful kings have ruled Western Province from Jerusalem and have collected all kinds of taxes.

Let his kingdom reach from sea to sea, from the River Euphrates across all the earth.

Our Lord, why have you torn down the wall from around the vineyard? You let everyone who walks by pick the grapes.

Her strong branches became symbols of authority, and she was taller than all other trees— everyone could see how strong and healthy she was.

He loves our nation and even built us a meeting place.”
