Stay away from gossips— they tell everything.

And so, she tricked him with all her sweet talk and her flattery.

I heard the crowds whisper, “Everyone is afraid. Now's our chance to accuse Jeremiah!” All of my so called friends are just waiting for me to make a mistake. They say, “Perhaps Jeremiah can be tricked. Then we can overpower him and get even at last.”

Those prophets lie by claiming they speak for me, but I have not even chosen them to be my prophets. And they still think their words will come true.

I have told you everything God wants you to know.

Agrippa asked Paul, “In such a short time do you think you can talk me into being a Christian?”

I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.

Indeed, I will tell how Christ performed miracles and wonders by the power of the Holy Spirit. I have preached the good news about him all the way from Jerusalem to Illyricum.

They want to serve themselves and not Christ the Lord. Their flattery and fancy talk fool people who don't know any better.

Christ did not send me to baptize. He sent me to tell the good news without using big words that would make the cross of Christ lose its power.

Friends, when I came and told you the mystery that God had shared with us, I didn't use big words or try to sound wise.

Every word we speak was taught to us by God's Spirit, not by human wisdom. And this same Spirit helps us teach spiritual things to spiritual people.

God's kingdom isn't just a lot of words. It is power.

But we have kept ourselves pure and have been understanding, patient, and kind. The Holy Spirit has been with us, and our love has been real.

I am not trying to please people. I want to please God. Do you think I am trying to please people? If I were doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I tell you these things to keep you from being fooled by fancy talk.

When we told you the good news, it was with the power and assurance that come from the Holy Spirit, and not simply with words. You knew what kind of people we were and how we helped you.

But they were told that they were serving you and not themselves. They preached to you by the power of the Holy Spirit, who was sent from heaven. And their message was only for you, even though angels would like to know more about it.

When we told you about the power and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not telling clever stories that someone had made up. But with our own eyes we saw his true greatness.

They boast out loud about their stupid nonsense. And by being vulgar and crude, they trap people who have barely escaped from living the wrong kind of life.

Finally, on the seventh day of the party they went to Samson's bride and said, “You had better trick your husband into telling you the answer to his riddle. Have you invited us here just to rob us? If you don't find out the answer, we will burn you and your family to death.”

The Philistine rulers went to Delilah and said, “Trick Samson into telling you what makes him so strong and what can make him weak. Then we can tie him up so he can't get away. If you find out his secret, we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.”
