You, my people, have sinned in two ways— you have rejected me, the source of life-giving water, and you've tried to collect water in cracked and leaking pits dug in the ground.

Israel, you are a sinful nation loaded down with guilt. You are wicked and corrupt and have turned from the Lord, the holy God of Israel.

My people, you abandoned me and walked away. I am tired of showing mercy; that's why I'll destroy you

It's all your own fault! You stopped following me, the Lord your God,

My people are determined to reject me for a god they think is stronger, but he can't help.

And worst of all, the people of Judah pretended to come back to me.

The people of Israel still did not turn back to the Lord All-Powerful and worship him.

So if we refuse this great way of being saved, how can we hope to escape? The Lord himself was the first to tell about it, and people who heard the message proved to us that it was true.

Now suppose faithful people start sinning, and I decide to put stumbling blocks in their paths to make them fall. They deserve to die because of their sins. So if you refuse to warn them, I will forget about the times they were faithful, and I will hold you responsible for their death.

When the Lord punishes the wicked, he will punish everyone else who lives an evil life. Pray for peace in Israel!

The wicked are too proud to turn to you or even think about you.

“Saul has stopped obeying me, and I'm sorry that I made him king.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out in prayer to the Lord all night.

They are flames destroying their leaders. And their kings are powerless; none of them trust me.

They tell deceitful lies, and they don't have the sense to live right.

Not one of them understands or even searches for God.

I, the Lord, said to Israel: You have become weary of me, but not from worshiping me.

Our enemies refuse to admit that you are God or to worship you. They have wiped out our people and left our nation lying in ruins. So get angry and sweep them away!

I am the Lord, their God, but in all of their troubles their pride keeps them from returning to me.

Don't ever turn your backs on him by marrying people from the nations that are left in the land. Don't even make friends with them. I tell you that if you are friendly with those nations, the Lord won't chase them away when you attack. Instead, they'll be like a trap for your feet, a whip on your back, and thorns in your eyes. And finally, none of you will be left in this good land that the Lord has given you.

I do what you want and never turn to do evil.

and to put to death anyone who refused to obey him.

He sent the Arameans from the east and the Philistines from the west, and they swallowed up Israel. But even this did not stop him from being angry, so he kept on punishing them.

Forever rebellious and rejecting correction, Jerusalem refuses to trust or obey the Lord God.
