You rich people should cry and weep! Terrible things are going to happen to you.

Groan in sorrow, Ezekiel; the sword is drawn against my people and their leaders. They will die! So give up all hope.

The Lord's people are his flock, and you leaders were the shepherds. But now it's your turn to be butchered like sheep. You'll shatter like fine pottery dropped on the floor. So roll on the ground, crying and mourning.

Jesus said to the people who had been selling doves, “Get those doves out of here! Don't make my Father's house a marketplace.”

Mourn, you priests who serve at the altar of my God. Spend your days and nights wearing sackcloth. Offerings of grain and wine are no longer brought to the Lord's temple.

Sober up, you drunkards! Cry long and loud; your wine supply is gone.

Even if you escape alive, you will end up in Egypt and be buried in Memphis. Your silver treasures will be lost among weeds; thorns will sprout in your tents.

Then I told the people of Israel, “Put on sackcloth! Mourn and cry out, ‘The Lord is still angry with us.’ ”

The wicked may collect riches and clothes in abundance as easily as clay.

But God's people will wear clothes taken from them and divide up their riches.

To you people of Philistia who live along the coast, the Lord has this to say: “I am now your enemy, and I'll wipe you out!”
