And so, he will put you in the power of your slaves, and they will raid and rob you. Then you will know that I am a prophet of the Lord All-Powerful.

When the Lord All-Powerful punishes Egypt with his mighty arm, the Egyptians will become terribly weak and will tremble with fear.

When people from distant lands come and help build the temple of the Lord All-Powerful, you will know that the Lord is the one who sent me. And this will happen, if you truly obey the Lord your God.

Zerubbabel laid the foundation for the temple, and he will complete it. Then everyone will know that you were sent by me, the Lord All-Powerful.

They will burn these weapons instead of gathering sticks or chopping down trees. That's how the Israelites will take revenge on those who robbed and abused them. I, the Lord, have spoken.

Other nations will lead them home, and Israel will make slaves of them in the land that belongs to the Lord. Israel will rule over those who once governed and mistreated them.

The Lord will dry up the arm of the Red Sea near Egypt, and he will send a scorching wind to divide the Euphrates River into seven streams that anyone can step across.

I am saying this to you now, so that when the time comes, you will remember what I have said. I was with you at the first, and so I didn't tell you these things.

I am telling you this before it all happens. Then when it does happen, you will believe who I am.

Then the glorious Lord All-Powerful ordered me to say to the nations that had raided and robbed Zion: Zion is as precious to the Lord as are his eyes. Whatever you do to Zion, you do to him.

And so, I swear by my very life that Moab and Ammon will end up like Sodom and Gomorrah— covered with thornbushes and salt pits forever. Then my people who survive will take their land.

You destroyed trees and animals on Mount Lebanon; you were ruthless to towns and people everywhere. Now you will be terrorized.

You robbed cities and nations everywhere on earth and murdered their people. Now those who survived will be as cruel to you.

Now you are saying we will have peace. We will just have to wait and see if that is really what the Lord has said.

But your nation is a ship with its rigging loose, its mast shaky, and its sail not spread. Someday even you that are lame will take everything you want from your enemies.

You defeated my people. Now you're in for trouble! You've never been destroyed, but you will be destroyed; you've never been betrayed, but you will be betrayed. When you have finished destroying and betraying, you will be destroyed and betrayed in return.

From high on a barren hill give a signal, shout the orders, and point the way to enter the gates of Babylon's proud rulers.

Today the enemy will camp at Nob and shake a threatening fist at Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

Come closer and listen! I have never kept secret the things I have said, and I was here before time began. By the power of his Spirit the Lord God has sent me

When he does, many nations will turn to him and become his people. At that time you will know that I am a prophet of the Lord All-Powerful.

Then the Lord will cover the whole city and its meeting places with a thick cloud each day and with a flaming fire each night. God's own glory will be like a huge tent that covers everything.

Sing, people of Zion! Celebrate the greatness of the holy Lord of Israel. God is here to help you.

The time is coming when the people of Judah will sing this song: “Our city is protected. The Lord is our fortress, and he gives us victory.

Our wonderful Lord will be with us! There will be deep rivers and wide streams safe from enemy ships.

Violence, destruction, and ruin will never again be heard of within your borders. “Victory” will be the name you give to your walls; “Praise” will be the name you give to your gates.

You won't need the light of the sun or the moon. I, the Lord your God, will be your eternal light and bring you honor.

In a foreign land my people are crying. Listen! You'll hear them say, “Has the Lord deserted Zion? Is he no longer its king?” I hear the Lord reply, “Why did you make me angry by worshiping useless idols?”

Israel, you will know that I stand at your side. I am the Lord your God— there are no other gods. Never again will you be put to shame.

Zion, your punishment is over. The Lord has forced your enemies to turn and retreat. Your Lord is King of Israel and stands at your side; you don't have to worry about any more troubles.

The Lord All-Powerful will protect his people, and they will trample down the sharpshooters and their slingshots. They will drink and get rowdy; they will be as full as a bowl at the time of sacrifice.
