But not a trace will be left of the wicked or their families.

The Scriptures say, “Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground.

The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the Lord All-Powerful, have spoken!

See how happy those arrogant people are. Everyone who does wrong is successful, and when they put God to the test, they always get away with it.”

Yet all goes well for them, and they live in peace.

Robbers and other godless people live safely at home and say, “God is in our hands!”

Their people became weak, terribly confused. They were like wild flowers or like tender young grass growing on a flat roof or like a field of grain before it matures.

Sin and self-satisfaction bring destruction and death to stupid fools.

All of those cruel people strut and boast,

I was stupid and ignorant, and I treated you as a wild animal would.
